I had spotted this ice cream parlour on the way to the our meal at The Cobb Arms pub in Lyme Regis and had a feeling it was good. So glad I always trust my intuition!
This ice cream is seriously good. Made with the fresh abundance of ingredients, you can really taste the real flavours of fruits and nuts in this ice cream. Baboo Gelato was only set up 3 years ago by Annie Hanbury, a trained gelatiere. Since then her ice creams have won multiple awards, and you can tell why. I tried the Rhubarb sorbet, which tasted of real rhubarbs, the maple and walnut, and the salted caramel crunch. I opted for the maple and Walnut as it was so utterly delicious. The rest of the family couldn’t resist the salted caramel crunch which was a sweet as expected but very tasty.
The ice creams are all gluten free and egg free. They have gluten cones and we could see the crumbs dropping down to the ice cream. So we asked them to remove the top layer before we could get scoops for the girls. They were accommodating and understanding for our request and the girls had un contaminated ice cream in tubs.
We were also impressed by the ice cream scoops are compostable, and also you are able to refill bottles of water at their shops. I really like this and is a huge bonus for people who are conscious of our destructive footprint we all put on the earth.
This is really good delicious local ice cream that is environmentally conscious, that’s a big winner for me. I’ll definitely be back here for some more.
